Barat Theme Cards

The barat - the groom's procession arriving with horse, band and dancing baraatis - is the liveliest thing that happens on a wedding day, and these cards put it on the cover. 36 designs, Rs. 6 to Rs. 260, most around Rs. 68.

Illustrations run from a single horse and groom to a full procession with dhol players, wrapping around a padded front panel (15 designs). Eleven also carry hathi motifs and twelve show the dulah dulhan couple.

A barat card announces a Hindu or Sikh wedding with the ceremony's own energy rather than its formality - a good choice when the invitation is going largely to friends and the younger half of the guest list.
